Many people are familiar with parish registers and realise that before 1837 they are vital in order to trace a family history. However, many are unaware of the great wealth of other records created by the local parish authorities often known as “Parish Chest Records” because they were originally housed in the parish chest. It is these which often reveal the real lives of our ancestors - both rich and poor.

We shall look at how the parish was organised, the different sorts of records to be found, and also see the changes brought about with the introduction of the workhouse system in 1834. We shall then look at the various land records relating to the parish and what they can tell us. for booking or further details contact Celia on 01797 344376 or visit http://www.heritagefamilyhistory.co.uk/events
